The fact that dxsetup was run, unfortunately doesn't guarantee that eventual broken dll will be repaired. In this case, it is probably XAudio2_7.dll, which is implicitly loaded by X3DAudio1_7.dll. Usually, either the dll is damaged, or some of its dependencies are missing or damaged. The fact that you can run installer and that dll can be there, but still not load correctly is not surprising. Updated to the Public Beta, and the crash is gone! But now I'm getting "You do not have an up to date version of the XAudio2 libraries, which are a part of DirectX." which doesn't make any sense because I've already run the installer to ensure it's up to date. I opened the overlay again using the button on the controller and clicked on the desktop tab and saw the crash, looks like this: I started the game from the Steam overlay in the HMD, the overlay closed as it does when it usually starts a game, but it appeared like nothing was happening.
